Did you know that Sosos, who lived in Pergamum (an ancient Greek city in what is now Turkey) in the 2nd century BC is thought to have established the first school for mosaic art.
You don't need to be an artist to make a great looking mosaic present. Cut out a square of MDF, cover it with a regular pattern of mosaic tiles and you will have made an attractive, robust drinks coaster. Make a set of identical coasters or keep the colours the same and vary the patterns.
